1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device so it can remember you between pages and visits. Modern sites also use similar browser storage such as local storage and IndexedDB, which work the same way for these purposes. This policy covers all of them on theeat.app. The Eat app for iPhone does not use cookies.
2. Cookies we use
Everything we store falls into two groups: strictly necessary (sign-in and security) and preferences (small settings that make the site quicker). There is no third group. We set no analytics cookies and no advertising cookies.
3. Strictly necessary
- Sign-in session, stored by Google Firebase Authentication in your browser so you stay signed in to your account. Cleared when you sign out.
- Payment session, set by Stripe on its own checkout and billing pages to process your payment securely. Governed by Stripe's cookie policy.
- Security cookies set by Cloudflare, which protects our API from abuse.
4. Analytics
We do not run analytics cookies or tracking pixels on theeat.app. Our servers keep short-lived standard logs (such as IP address and page requested) for security and to keep the site running, and nothing more.
5. Preferences
- eat.account: your name, email, photo and plan, saved after you sign in so every page can show your account straight away. Never used to grant access; your plan is always re-checked with our server.
- eat_cur: the currency to show prices in, detected from your country.
- eat_ref: a referral code from an invitation link, kept so the person who invited you gets credit when you join.
6. Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser's settings at any time. Signing out removes the sign-in session and the eat.account preference. Blocking strictly necessary storage will stop you staying signed in and will prevent checkout from working.
7. Changes to this policy
If we start using a new type of cookie, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
